Recycling Information & Schedule

Recyclables are collected in Leisure Town by the Scouts and taken to the Vacaville City Corp Yard on Allison Dr (between Ulatis & Elmira) where they're sorted. This is normally done on the first Saturday of the month and takes the Scouts about five hours. The hours spent collecting and sorting the recyclables are used to offset the costs associated with the troops outings throughout the year. If a Scout makes it to eight recycling days throughout the year he should work enough hours to pay for Scout Camp. The boys learn at an early age the value of a hard day's work!

Schedule: 2010 - 5 Jun, 10 Jul, 7 Aug, 11 Sep, 2 Oct, 6 Nov, 4 Dec

Open to the public: 9:00 - 12:00

Scouts: Should arrive between 8:30 and 8:45 and expect to finish between 12:00 and 12:15.

Credit Hours: It takes 32 hours of recycling to pay for summer camp. Active recyclers will also pay less on all troop- sponsored activities.

WHAT WE RECYCLE

NEWSPAPERS: In paper or plastic bags or tied with sturdy string
No white paper, junk mail, phone books or magazines

CORRUGATED CARDBOARD: If possible, flatten
Corrugated only. No cereal boxes, gift boxes

ALUMINUM: Drink cans, pet food cans, pie plates, etc. and foil

STEEL CANS: Often referred to as "tin" cans. Labels OK

GLASS: Both regular and CRV glass food and drink containers
Remove tops Labels OK. No Pyrex, window glass, light bulbs

PETE PLASTICS: Calif. Redemption Value ONLY: soda, water & juice bottles Tops OK, labels OK. Marked #1 PETE CRV

*HDPE PLASTICS: Milk, water and some juice bottles marked #2 HDPE Milky-white, opaque plastic ONLY. Remove tops, wash the milk bottles.

No colored or solid white #2 HDPE. No detergents, bleaches, etc.

No foam plastic, plastics other than listed above as OK, auto oil bottles or aerosols. PLEASE CLEAN WHAT YOU GIVE US. Remember, young people are handling your recyclables. Thank you. For more information: call 448-7448
